Breastfeeding Week is an annual event celebrated globally to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding for both infants and mothers. The week serves as an opportunity to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding as a vital way to improve the health and well-being of babies and mothers. The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) coordinates and promotes this initiative with the support of various organizations and governments worldwide. The theme for this year is: “Enabling breastfeeding: making a difference for working parents.” This is important because: 1. Workplace challenges remain the most common reason for women to never breastfeed or to stop breastfeeding earlier than recommended. 2. Parents need adequate time and support to breastfeed. Parents with less than 3 months of maternity leave reported shorter breastfeeding duration than those with 3 or more months of leave. 3.A workplace needs adequate breastfeeding facilities to become a breastfeeding-friendly workplace.
